5 top skills for your career

Here’s an infographic from research carried out in 3 states in the US into the top 5 skills valued most by employers today.

Interestingly, the ability to learn, rather than skills and knowledge themselves, has come out on top. Have a look at the infographic below:

How to acquire the ‘most valued’ skills

1. Ability to learn

This includes concepts such as ‘agility’, ‘open mindedness’ and ‘discipline’. A great place to start is via our Emotional Intelligence Programme which covers these key skills.

2 & 3. Ability to analyse & synthesise new skills, problem solving

This includes analytical & system thinking & problem solving. Have a look at our Personal Development Programme that gives you a rapid methodology for these abilities.

4. Interpersonal communication.

Focus on Emotional Intelligence (above) and also, Communication Factor. This includes opening the ‘space’ between you and another person, active listening, questioning, and the ability to give and receive feedback and pushback.

5. Collaboration.

This is teamwork, the ability to work with one or another person towards the accomplishment of a task. It includes trust, conflict management, commitment, accountability, strategic thinking and paying attention to results. These are all covered in Five Star Teams…

So there you have it – the 5 top skills for your career in a (very small) nutshell. And if any of the above programmes interest you, feel free to ask for more details via the contact form below…
