Mapping emotions

Where do certain emotions impact and evoke responses on your body?

This is the question that a recent study led by Lauri Nummenmaa and her colleagues at Aalto University in Finland sought to answer, by mapping emotions on the body, as they are felt, by us.

Emotions can be considered to be culturally neutral. So we thought that the findings of this study were worth sharing here both from an Emotional Intelligence and Customer Experience perspective.

From their subjective research Lauri and her team have crowdsourced hundreds of responses cross-culturally into where participants say emotions appear and how they manifest themselves, mapping emotions on the body as per the images below:
