Employee Engagement

Employee Engagement makes the difference!

Companies with engaged employees execute better, innovate more effectively, and, perhaps most importantly of all – provide an unbeatable platform for the most valuable source of competitive advantage – Customer Engagement.

Yet only a small percentage of companies actively pursue employee engagement as a goal in itself.

Those that do benefit from the ‘intangible value’ that high levels of employee engagement brings to their organisations and significant competitive advantage that follows.

These benefits include:

» Higher levels of customer loyalty

» Reduced staff turnover and absenteeism

» Greater productivity

» More effective and rapid execution of strategy

…among other key factors.

What employee engagement is not

It’s important to understand what employee engagement is not. One thing it is not is employee satisfaction.

Another thing it is not is any kind of employee survey that has no demonstrable link to company performance.

Employee engagement is not rational only. It is a combination of rational, emotional and physical attributes that make up the ‘Whole Person’ at work.

Any survey that falls short of these characteristics as well as creating a demonstrable link between them to corporate performance, is not an employee engagement survey!

Target these three behaviours

We’ve seen companies spend months of man hours trying to divine what it is they want from their employees.

The answer, we would propose, is really very simple. We call these the ‘three diamonds’ of employee engagement. These are when employees have these three behaviours:

♦   Say – demonstrate advocacy. If an employee tells you their company is a great place to work, that’s engagement in action!

♦   Want to Stay – or demonstrate loyalty. If an employee tells you their company is a great place to work, that’s engagement in action!

♦   Want to Strive – give discretionary effort. If an employee wants to help the company in any way he or she can, that’s also engagement in action!

These three behaviours – the amount an employee is willing to Say, Stay and Strive – sets the engaged employee apart from his disengaged counterpart.

How we help you create an engaged workforce

Talent Technologies helps you promote employee engagement in the following way:

First, we analyse the intangible drivers of corporate value. These are not ‘hard’ factors like market share or operating margins, but ‘soft factors’ like innovation, quality, brand and customer experience. From this we derive your company’s unique ValueDrivers™.

Next, we identify the critical people link to these ValueDrivers™. This is done through our empirical metastudy of over 250,000 employees from over 150 companies worldwide. We then create a signature engagement model for your organisation, culminating in an Employer Brand.

Finally, we create and deliver an employee engagement survey which links your TalentDrivers™ to your ValueDrivers™ and with your Employer Brand, becomes the heartbeat of your organisation. This then becomes an integral part of your Performance Management System.
